His forecasts are without bias. Unlike many government agencies and
commercial businesses, he is not under political pressure
to
provide positive forecasts.
In 2006, Kevin Long was the first to identify, name and
publicise "The Chinese Effect".
Kevin
believes that the large cloud of man-made pollution on the seas
north of New Guinea is responsible for drawing away a large amount of
rainfall moisture from the East Coast of Australia.
This will be a major factor in Australia's climate future, and has not
been factored into our long-term planning !!!

A
Campaigner for Water
Management Reform
Kevin has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of issues including:
| • |
the
need for urgent review of rural
water allocations so as to
"Use Half, Save Half" in our
major reservoirs, rather than the current practice of
allocating all available water each year without holding a
reserve for the next season. |
| |
|
| • |
the
potential for capturing Bendigo's
enormous stormwater
resources which
are currently untapped for urban use. Instead, this huge
semi-arid city of nearly 100,000 people relies on water from
other dry regions to be piped here in the Super Expensive
$100m "Super Pipe".
More
stormwater leaves Bendigo via its main creek than
is piped
here by the Coliban Water authority! |
